Youth Programming

Plenty Canada has both supported the development of young people to build their capacity to contribute to society and benefited from their fresh ideas and enthusiasm to make a difference in our world.

Throughout Plenty Canada’s existence, we have had an exciting and inspiring relationship with youth.

Current Youth Programs

We are currently working together with local school boards and post-secondary educational institutions to better understand gaps in Indigenous curriculum and programming. We are glad to help however we can with your programming needs. If you are interested in programming for your school, please get in touch through our Contact Us page.

Wii Baba Mose Maamiwi | We Walk the Path Together
For youth aged 14-25. Learn how youth can unite Indigenous and Western ways of thinking to work together towards a just future. Learn more here.

Truth and Reconciliation Training Program
For youth aged 15-30. Learn about different Indigenous traditions, innovation, leadership, and culture. This year's program is now underway and will run from the summer of 2022 to March 2023. Learn more here.

Youth Circle for Mother Earth
Together with Ontario Nature, The Indigenous Environmental Institute at Trent University  Walpole Island Land Trust, we facilitate the activities of the Youth Circle for Mother Earth project, which you can learn about here.

Job Opportunities

Our summer jobs, internships and youth employment programs develop skills related to their career objectives in such fields as environmental sciences, biology, forestry, communications, teaching, and more. Students gain experience in the importance and application of Indigenous ways of knowing and related knowledge systems. Both Plenty Canada staff and some board members take a role in sharing their knowledge.

Youth are given both work assignments and external training and learning opportunities as much as possible.

Today we count many alumni who are teachers, land use planners, engineers, biologists, environmental stewardship professionals, office managers, forest professionals and more. We are proud to celebrate their achievements.

If you are interested in work placements at Plenty, keep an eye on our job board.
